NHWT Ways and Means Fundraiser

BUTTER BRAIDS

The Butter Braid order form will be emailed to chapter members around the 18th of September so that members can share the information electronically with friends and relatives. There will also be paper copies of the order form at the September meeting. Our chapter will receive 40% of each item sold and this money will be used to help fund our ways and means account (yearly expenses). The sale will continue until November 4th , when orders and money will need to be turned in. The Butter Braids are an incredible treat for your guests over the holidays and can be kept frozen for many months. The orders will arrive at my home on Friday, November 15th and should be picked up as soon as possible, because they have to be kept frozen. Contact Rita with questions or to place an order (zucarita@comcast.net).

Thanks, Rita J

Cooper Craft Fair Volunteers Needed

Fall is quickly approaching, which means the Cooper Craft Fair (CCF) is just around the corner! It’s always the last Saturday of October. This year it’s on the 26th.

For those of you who’ve never heard of or been to the CCF, it’s a large arts & crafts fair made up of 140-160 crafters who sell only handmade goods. 40% of the proceeds go to the Lavon H Cooper scholarship fund, usually equaling $4,500-$5,500, that’s dispersed to about 8-10 graduates of a District 281 high school. The CCF is at Cooper High School and is going on its 47th year!

We require about 24 volunteers to help set up on Friday night and 30 during the event. Please sign up for a shift, if you haven’t already, via the SignUpGenius. Also, I’ll be looking for someone to shadow me to take over my position on the CCF Committee. My role in the committee is scholarship oversight and volunteer recruitment. Please let me know if you’re interesting in being a part of the committee. It would involve shadowing me at our follow-up meetings after this year’s fair, learning the tasks involved in my position, and shadowing me at next year’s fair.

Thanks, Merrin B

A Note from President Rita ~ September

Not sure what is going on with the weather. But fall seems to be here early. I find myself wanting a cup of hot cider with cinnamon or a nice big hot chocolate with whipped cream! FYI, Country Kitchen has an incredible bottomless cup of Hot Chocolate! I am looking forward to all the fun activities we have in the works. I hope you all will find time to attend some of these activities. I look forward to all the new events our members will put together for us this fall and winter.
