Member Feature, Tawn H: What are you doing in the 2020-2021 WT year
Hello,
My name is Tawn Hanson and I have been a
member of the New Hope chapter since 2008. I joined to gain friends, and boy
did I ever. As my husband is fond of saying, you never just join something
to join, you always get involved. That being said, I have been true to form. I
have served on our local board in every position, the district board, including
DD, and now I am looking forward to the new adventure of serving on the state
level. I will be serving as the Community Connection SPM. My theme this year is
Giving Power to Our Communities. One of the areas that I will be promoting is
Habitat for Humanity. I truly believe that this organization empowers people to
rise above situations that they find their lives in.
On a personal note, I have been married to my wonderful,
supportive husband, Scott, for 23 years. We have two amazing children. Our Son,
Ryan, is a senior at Armstrong High School. Our daughter, Abigail, is a
freshman at Armstrong High School. Ryan is an avid mountain biker and Abigail
is a competitive gymnast and softball player. And yes I am actively involved in
their sports teams, not just a spectator. I also work full time as a dental
assistant at Metropolitan Periodontists.
As we navigate these new waters of Covid, our communities
will need our support and individual expertise more than ever.
